CEWC-Cymru believes that the ability to think critically and creatively is an integral part of being a responsible global citizen.
Since 2004, we have been promoting a classroom Philosophy for Children (P4C) to help students develop such skills.
We offer many services to schools in this area:
"Excellent program, which supports ESDGC and PSE teaching for that age. It also helps to develop thinking and communication skills are taught in person, as well as the wider key skill of working with others."
Rhian Kenny, Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin
CEWC began to explore the links between P4C and citizenship education in 2004, working with four primary schools in Blaenau Gwent for a project sponsored by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Since then, we have trained hundreds of teachers to lead a philosophical discussion in the classroom, using P4C in conjunction with PSE, ESDGC and Thinking Skills for the new curriculum in Wales.
