Here is an example of a resolution agreed last year, on the subject of the Millennium Development Goals:
This Model United Nations General Assembly:
1. Urges the 22 countries that originally pledged 0.7% of their gross national income for international development to meet that goal by 2009;
2. Calls for the abolition of unfair trade rules, and for countries which impose high tariffs on trading to reduce these by half;
3. Asks developed countries to provide international aid worth the sum that WaterAid deems will be necessary to get goal 7 back on track;
4. Additionally asks those countries to contribute a total of $15 billion to combat AIDS through drug treatment and education, as a guaranteed funded element of the 0.7% target agreed in point 1;
5. Calls on Western countries to do the following in pursuit of goal 7:
(a) Fund eco-friendly schemes to protect the environment;
(b) Reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and buy eco-friendly fuel from less economically developed countries (particularly in Africa);
(c) Reduce their demand for unsustainable rainforest products and provide countries with fair trade alternatives;6. Proposes that all countries help in any way possible (either financially or morally) to ridding all countries of extreme debt by 2015.
