Wales Schools Debating Championships
Sponsored by Julian Hodge Bank, our annual tournament takes place from October to November and is open to every secondary school and college in Wales. Over 50 teams participate each year.
» 2010 Championships: Registration now open!
Entry for the Championships opens in June. Topics for the debates, which take place in English, are sent to competitors in September, along with a copy of our Debating Handbook.
The initial stage of the competition is divided into 8 regional rounds, which are followed by national quarter-finals and semi-finals at Gregynog, Powys, and the Final at the Temple of Peace, Cardiff. Why not take a look at the results of last year’s competition?
If you’re new to the competition, don’t worry! We also organise Debate Training Days to help students understand what is required.
