Affiliate Membership - full details

Free school visits and workshops on global topics

Each member school/college is entitled to one free visit of up to 2 hours for each year of Affiliate Membership. Extra hours and subsequent visits are charged at £25 per hour (non-members: £50 per hour, with no free hours).

Free taster sessions on critical thinking, democratic participation and other CEWC-Cymru project work

As an alternative to a topical workshop, we can offer a free session using Philosophy for Children or other methods developed during CEWC-Cymru projects. Please note that a fee is payable if more than one teacher is involved in observing the session (see below).

Reduced rates for in-service training sessions

Members receive training for £80 per hour (non-members: £100) or £400 per day (non-members: £500). Classroom demonstrations observed by colleagues are charged at £50 per hour (non-members: £70) or £250 per day (non-members: £325)

Reduced rates for participation in our conferences and events

For example, taking 9 students to a Model United Nations conference will cost £25 (non-members: £40); participating in our Debate Training Days costs £5 per student (non-members: £10).

Free CEWC-Cymru newsletters

These are produced 3 times per year, and include information posters on global issues.

Reduced prices for CEWC-Cymru publications

For example, our Thinking Citizens pack costs £6 for members (non-members: £8).

Free access to advice, information and resources on global citizenship

Where possible, we will provide informal advice and information on relevant areas of education. (This does not, however, include talks at staff meetings, which are counted as in-service training.)

Priority mailings about CEWC-Cymru events, competitions and other activities

Because we have a specific teacher contact name, we will make sure that CEWC-Cymru mailings always get to the right person on time.

Example of Affiliate Membership in practice:
You ask us to provide a 1-hour long workshop at your school, and take part in a Model UN conference later in the year. You pay a total of £25, whereas a non-member would pay £90. Even if you are paying the top membership rate (£60), you still save money as well as receiving all the other benefits of affiliation.
