Training

CEWC-Cymru provides three types of training course in this area:

(a) Level 1 course in Philosophy for Children (2 days). This course package provides detailed guidance on using the P4C method and practice sessions in which we encourage all participants to philosophise. It is the ideal preparation for teachers wishing to transform their classes into ‘communities of enquiry’. These courses are certificated by SAPERE, the co-ordinating body for P4C in the UK.

(b) Introductory course (1 day). This introduces the P4C method and its links to thinking skills, PSE and citizenship education.

(c) Taster sessions (1 hour or more). Designed for teachers who are starting to consider the development of  thinking skills.

Cost:  (a) or (b) £400 per day (single CEWC-Cymru member school) / £500 per day (non-members and school clusters).
(c) £80 per hour (single CEWC-Cymru member school) / £100 per hour (non-members and school clusters).

For members, we can also visit your school free of charge to provide a classroom demonstration.
