Critical thinking skills

CEWC-Cymru provides guidance and resources covering the links between critical thinking, PSE and ESDGC.

We particularly recommend training in the Philosophy for Children (P4C) method, which can be provided by our Education Officer. P4C gives pupils the opportunity to ask ‘deeper’ philosophical questions and to discuss these openly in class. Regular participation in such discussions can lead to the development a community of enquiry, enhancing everyone’s critical thinking, language skills and moral awareness.

P4C also helps to develop an atmosphere of co-operation and inclusiveness in the school as a whole, because it encourages children to consider each other’s feelings and opinions, and to respond appropriately.
